Fear vs. Faith

We all know that there is power in knowing God and believing in Him. But we also know that to connect with God so that He may bless us, we need to have faith in His power and His love for us. Let’s look at what Yeshua (Jesus) has to say about faith.

And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.

Matthew 21:21 NASB

So we see that the enemy of our Faith is doubt, which is usually caused by our fear. We fear that we may lose what we have if we trust in God and live radically for Him. And we also like to rationalize with ourselves and limit God. But limiting God is actually irrational, because if God made all of creation, what is stopping Him from making miracles happen?

Peter said to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” And He said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and *said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Matthew 14:28‭-‬31 NASB

So we see here that when Peter saw the wind from the storm, he became afraid and started to doubt. I like to think that in his mind he was thinking along these lines. “I am walking on water with Yeshua, this is crazy! Oh no there is a storm, I shouldn’t be out here on the water, I may get hurt!” See we often like to look at what makes us afraid, thus causing us to doubt. And in that doubt we completely forget that just two seconds ago we were walking on WATER!

But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.

James 1:6 NASB

So we know that if we doubt, we are like Peter and we lose the strength that comes with Faith. With faith we can acomplish anything that is the will of the Father. We go to Him with prayers, and believing in His power we have our prayers answered. So let us not doubt, because we know that LOGICALLY, God can do all things because He made all things. The lie that God can’t is a lie from the enemy. They do this so you lose your power and become vulnerable.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13 NASB

“I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.

Job 42:2 NASB

So lets take these statments seriously. If we believe in God, then there is no reason that we should think He can’t do anything He wills. Yes He made the Earth in 6 days, yes He parted the red sea, yes His Son rose from the dead. These aren’t ‘metaphors’ for something, these things really happened. If we think He can’t, then He won’t. It is our Faith that unites us with God, and our lack of Faith that will separate us.
