Sign from God

I know that a lot of people out there are seeking an answer from God and are seeking a way to connect with Him for a answer. Whether that be over a financial decision or maybe making your next move in your career. And God can be an awesome resource for you to seek what He has planned for you and to follow that route rather than your own. And one of the tools in the toolbelt of Christians today is that we can ask God for a sign. Now this sign isn’t to prove that God exist, but rather an act of faith in that we know God exists and He listens to us.

He said, “O Lord , the God of my master Abraham, please grant me success today, and show lovingkindness to my master Abraham. Behold, I am standing by the spring, and the daughters of the men of the city are coming out to draw water; now may it be that the girl to whom I say, ‘Please let down your jar so that I may drink,’ and who answers, ‘Drink, and I will water your camels also’— may she be the one whom You have appointed for Your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that You have shown lovingkindness to my master.”

Genesis 24:12‭-‬14 NASB

See in this situation, Abraham’s servant called on God to show him a sign that would take place so that he would know which girl he was to bring back to his master’s son. Now this was a big deal for both the servant and Abraham. And when the servant asked for the sign, he wasn’t asking out of unfaithfulness, but in faithfulness. He was asking for a sign because he believed in God and trusted that He would give him the answer to his problem.

Then Jonathan said, “Behold, we will cross over to the men and reveal ourselves to them. If they say to us, ‘Wait until we come to you’; then we will stand in our place and not go up to them. But if they say, ‘Come up to us,’ then we will go up, for the Lord has given them into our hands; and this shall be the sign to us.”

1 Samuel 14:8‭-‬10 NASB

In this instance of asking God for a sign, Jonathan and his armour bearer were looking for a sign from God that would give them the go to attack the Philistines. Now to put this in perspective, Jonathan and the armour bearer were only two people and they were walking into the camp of an entire army. Just two people who had some amazing faith in God. And they were able to do this and push out the Philistines because they trusted in the Father. So asking for a sign so that you can follow God’s direction is very different than asking for a sign to determine if God is real. And we should all use this as a tool for the kingdom to do amazing things with God. Now I must say, it does require some real faith to walk out in the path once you have been given the sign, but I promise that if you trust God you will do and experience amazing things.
