The Lords of Mount Sinai
I found a super interesting gem in the Bible the other day when I was reading the book of Exodus. So, to catch you up on the story, Moses and the Israelites have already left Egypt and are now on their way to the promised land. They have made it to Mount Sinai and God has told Moses to get the people prepared to meet him. They wait for 3 days and then the Lord starts to speak to Moses.
Then the Lord said to him, “Go down and come up again, you and Aaron with you; but do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the Lord , or He will break forth upon them.”
Exodus 19:24 NASB
So let’s deconstruct whats going on here. First, the verse starts by saying that “the Lord said to him,”. So we know that the Lord is speaking to Moses. But watch what the Lord says. He tells Moses to get Aaron and to not let the priests and people break through to come up to the Lord, or He would break out against them. Did you guys catch that? The Lord told Moses not to come up to the Lord. He isn’t talking about himself. You see, there are two Lords up on that mountain. And it is my understanding that these two Lords were the Father and the Son.
Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this blog post. I think this warrants a new category for the blog. Biblical Mysteries. Because when you find stuff like this it is like finding a gem. So cool. Anyways, make sure to share this post if you enjoyed it! Thanks!
