Sacrifice for Unintentional Sin
Have you ever felt regret or sadness when you accidentally made a mistake or offended someone? And in your walk as a Christian, maybe early in your relationship with the Father, you are reading the Word and come to a verse or passage that convicts you for sin or a wrong view of God. And because of this, you have regrets of your past and think that you should have known this whole time. Well, I was reading in Numbers today and I wanted to share with you a lesson that we can learn about how God deals with unintentional sin.
‘If you sin unintentionally, and do not observe all these commandments which the Lord has spoken to Moses— all that the Lord has commanded you by the hand of Moses, from the day the Lord gave commandment and onward throughout your generations— then it will be, if it is unintentionally committed, without the knowledge of the congregation, that the whole congregation shall offer one young bull as a burnt offering, as a sweet aroma to the Lord , with its grain offering and its drink offering, according to the ordinance, and one kid of the goats as a sin offering. So the priest shall make atonement for the whole congregation of the children of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them, for it was unintentional; they shall bring their offering, an offering made by fire to the Lord , and their sin offering before the Lord , for their unintended sin. It shall be forgiven the whole congregation of the children of Israel and the stranger who dwells among them, because all the people did it unintentionally.
Numbers 15:22-26 NKJV
So If we look at this sacrifice in light of Jesus and how He fulfills every sacrifice, we can see that we too have the benefit of forgiveness for unintentional sins. so God does desire that we know His will and His commandments, but if we are sinning and we don’t know that we are, He won’t hold it against us if we acknowledge that we have sinned. God is a gracious and loving Father that just wants us to do well and prosper. He wants us to walk in a just path before Him in love. So I want you guys to take that into account today and thank the Father for His kindness and mercy! Show our Father some love today!
