Judge not lest you be Judged?

So I was reading the verse of the day the other day, and I caught something interesting in the verse. Let me show you.

No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord , And their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.

Isaiah 54:17 NASB

So as I was reading this a thought came to my mind. It was of a specific teaching that I feel is connected to this verse. Can you guess? Let’s check it out.

“Do not judge so that you will not be judged.  For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.

Matthew 7:1‭-‬2 NASB

So these two verses are saying similar things, and this is because Jesus was actually teaching this old testament principle. So let take a look at how these verses are similar. Every tongue that accuses you, you will condem. Do not judge so that you will not be judged. In one instance, it is saying that if anyone condemns a servant of the lord, they will be condemned. And in the other, it is saying that if you judge anyone, you too will be judged. It is the same message but it speaks to different people. One to the person being judged, and the other to the judge. So I want you guys to understand that Jesus often teaches from the old testament and the promises that are found there. And lastly, I want to challenge you today to live in that promise. If someone condemns you and judges you, they will be condemned, and you don’t need to defend yourself. And if we judge others, we too will be judged in that same measure. So we show be conscious of this truth so that we don’t judge others. Let’s take thirty minutes today to ask God to show us this truth and let it sink in.
