He wants all of you!

So I was reading in Luke for my daily Bible reading the other day and I came across the passage of the widow and the offering. And while reading this, I was convicted. Now I wasn’t convicted because the tithe of it, but I was convicted because of something the Holy Spirit showed me. But first let’s go over the passage together.

And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw a poor widow putting in two small copper coins. And He said, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them;  for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.”

Luke 21:1‭-‬4 NASB1995

Now what can we gain from this passage? We see that Jesus has a different perspective than most in this situation. The world would look and say that the rich were giving more, but Jesus says that the widow is giving more. But how is it that she gave more? Jesus says that she gave more because she gave all that she had to live on because she was a poor widow. Jesus doesn’t care about the value other people put on the gift, but on what it means to you. The gift would mean more if we gave what we needed for ourselves versus what we had extra. Now this isn’t a post about the tithe, though this same message could be used for it. When I was reading this passage, the Holy Spirit was telling me that you could exchange the money for time. Some people gave up their surplus or extra time as an offering to God. But what God would see as a better offering is if a person gave their time by giving up something else. And it really could be anything that we give more of: money, time, energy, etc. God doesn’t just want the extra part of you. That’s like saying you would only give God the scraps of your life. We give scraps to the dogs, not to the Almighty. So I hope you guys can take something away from this today. I know that even writing this right now I am convicted about how I have been living. Let’s make a change today and give God what He deserves. All of us, not just the scraps.

Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed that blog post! If you did make sure to share it with your friends and family. If you feel lead by the Spirit, consider donating to support my ministry! I am not able to do this full time at the moment but with enough support I could make that transition. Thanks! Jesus is the Way!
