The Prepared Way

So for anyone keeping up with the blog, you know that I have recently been in the Book of Luke. And I have found yet another amazing teaching that I want to share with you guys that the Holy Spirit is showing me. Now when you have finished reading this, I want you meditate on what was shared with you. I think it is important to think on the things we have been shown because sometimes we can forget or lose a teaching that we have been given. So let’s begin.

And Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, so that we may eat it.”  They said to Him, “Where do You want us to prepare it?” And He said to them, “When you have entered the city, a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him into the house that he enters.  And you shall say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?” ’  And he will show you a large, furnished upper room; prepare it there.”  And they left and found everything just as He had told them; and they prepared the Passover.

Luke 22:8‭-‬13 NASB1995

So I wanted to go over this passage together because I believe there is an important message in it that we can all use. It starts with Jesus telling Peter and John to go and prepare the Passover for the disciples. Then Peter and John of course ask Jesus where He wants to prepare it. So Jesus tells them that when they enter the city, they will find a man carrying a man pitcher of water and that they need to follow this man. So they do, and when they get to his house they ask the man for his guest room. So real quick, let’s think about what just happened in the story. Jesus somehow knows that there is going to be a man in Jerusalem that is carrying a pitcher of water right about the time His disciples would get there. Not only that but Jesus knows that this man has a house that has a guest room. And He knows that this man will lend the room to Him and the disciples. That is remarkable. It is almost like it was all planned that way. Which I believe it was. But our lives can have plans like this as well. And God knows with perfect accuracy what is going to happen, and how it is going to happen. That’s because He planned it this way. It is up to us to walk in that plan though. If the disciples hadn’t listened to Jesus and obeyed, they would have never found that room. And the same story goes for Jesus riding the colt into Jerusalem.

After He had said these things, He was going on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.  When He approached Bethphage and Bethany, near the mount that is called Olivet, He sent two of the disciples, saying, “Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colt tied on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here.  If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of it.’ ”  So those who were sent went away and found it just as He had told them. As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” They said, “The Lord has need of it.” They brought it to Jesus, and they threw their coats on the colt and put Jesus on it.

Luke 19:28‭-‬35 NASB1995

So we see the same thing pan out in this passage. We can see that there are things in Jesus’ journey that were planned out. And things in our lives can be the same way. This is because Jesus is the ultimate example of man on earth. He never did anything unless His Father told Him to. He walked in closeness and obedience. And we can walk in that same way. So take courage that if you walk in the path that the Lord has planned for you, you will be provided for. This is because you walk the prepared way.
