Hey guys, today I wanted talk about roadblocks in our walk with God. Now there are definitely some roadblocks that Christians face. Whether that is conflicts in your relationships, compromise in your walk, or complacency in your walk. But today I wanted to talk about a concept that has to do with compromise in your walk. And it has to do with a verse from Genesis. Let’s check it out.
For I have chosen him, so that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him.”Genesis 18:19 NASB1995
To give you context for this passage, the Lord is about to bring judgement upon Sodom and Gomorrah and He is speaking to some angels about involving Abraham into the situation. Now the story is a good one, but I want to focus on what God says right here. He tells the angels that Abraham has been chosen to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice. But He then says that Abraham must keep the way of the Lord, so that the Lord may bring about the promises. This means that if Abraham didn’t keep the way of the Lord then God wouldn’t be able to bring about the blessing and promise. This can happen to us as well.
How can we overcome?
If we stay in our sin and never grow we will miss out on the things that the Lord has for us in this life. We will miss out on the blessings and promises of God. This is because when we walk in His ways, He can then bless us and bring about His plan. But we know that if we want to overcome our sin, we need the power of the cross. So we must lean into Jesus in order to overcome our sin, which will then unlock the blessing in our lives.
